Mr. Narku O. (Nak) Nortey passed away on October 14, 2015 after a long illness.
Nak had been part of the ACI team since 2008, specializing in project management and ANSYS finite element analysis. He was a valuable resource for analyzing failed compressor components and evaluating and optimizing new designs.
A native of Ghana, Nak graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The City University of New York in 1977, a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State in 1983, and a PhD from Auberdeen University (Idaho) in 2007.
Before joining ACI, his experiences included engineering hydraulic turbines at Allis-Chalmers; engineering and developing machinery in the rubber and plastics industry with Case Rubber Co., Krupp Rubber Co., Farrel Corporation and SME; and engineering with Skinner Engine Co. Nak held five U.S. patents and over 20 foreign patents for machinery and equipment.
Nak’s technical expertise and friendly personality will be missed at ACI. The ACI team expresses its sympathy to his family and friends.
